Chemical Peel

Professional exfoliation using special blends of acids and active ingredients

Chemical peels are a skin-resurfacing treatment that use a blend of acids and other active ingredients to exfoliate the skin. This exfoliation can have dramatic results in treating concerns such as acne, acne scarring, pigmentation, melasma and signs of ageing including wrinkles and age spots.

Chemical peels come in different depths. The deeper the treatment, the more dramatic the results but also the longer the downtime will be. A superficial peel focuses on exfoliating the top layer of your skin to give an effective rejuvenating effect without as much downtime, while you may experience some flaking and peeling it will be much less than with a more intense peel.

You will see results after your first peel but we do recommend multiple sessions to achieve the best results, particularly if you are treating a concern such as acne. One of our expert practitioners will advise you on the best treatment plan during your complimentary consultation.

What can we target with a chemical peel?

Acne and acne scars

The exfoliating benefits of a chemical peel can dramatically improve acne-prone skin by improving the texture and tone whilst working to unclog pores and prevent further breakouts.

Unlike a physical exfoliator, chemical exfoliators are better at removing dead skin cells and encouraging your skin to produce new collagen which helps to improve texture and acne scarring.

Hyperpigmentation can manifest in many different ways, such as melasma or age spots. Chemical skin peels work to remove the damaged skin cells and encourage the growth of new cells to improve the appearance of pigmentation on the face, hands, feet and décolletage.

As the peel exfoliates away the outer layer of the dermis, the chemical solution also stimulates collagen and elastin production so the new skin cells produced are smoother and more radiant, leaving you with a more youthful complexion.

What chemical peels are on offer at MBA Skin?

Obagi Blue Radiance Peel

The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a superficial peel that contains a unique blend of acids for an effective salicylic acid-based facial peel, resulting in tighter, smoother, brighter-looking skin immediately after just one treatment. Salicylic acid–based peels are particularly effective for treating oily and acne-prone skin to loosen dirt from pores.

The Blue Peel Radiance effectively exfoliates the uppermost damaged skin layers, leaving your skin fresh, renewed, and radiant with little to no downtime. You may also benefit from this treatment if you are a skin type 4-6 with pigmentation. You can also combine a course of Blue Peel Radiance treatments with the Obagi Nu-derm Kit for enhanced results.
